Empowering youth as champion of gender equality – Youth Talks

Aleksander Metaj , a student in Political Science, at the University of Tirana, thinks that the
“Promotion of the European integration process and EU values in Albania and other countries of the Western Balkans  involved in this process, is endangered by the influence of Eastern countries such as China or Russia.

“I think that the influence of  these countries in the economic and political aspects in Western Balkans is very dangerous because these countries don’t have the values on which the EU stands, including gender equality. The Western Balkans are directly adjacent to the European Balkans, which creates a perfect way and an extremely easy gateway for the denial of the founding values of the EU to penetrate. This constitutes a danger from which Albania is not immune.”
